Jennifer H. Goody

In January 2008, Jennifer H. Goody, joined Mr. Wand as an associate. Mr. Wand was so impressed with her skills as an attorney and her dedication to the firm’s clients, in “lightning speed” Ms. Goody became a partner.

Ms. Goody is originally from Bellmore, New York. After high school, she matriculated at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, where she received her B.A. Thereafter, she returned to Long Island and attended Hofstra University School of Law and graduated in 1997 with a Juris Doctor. Ms. Goody was admitted to practice in the State of New York, Second Department, in April 1998, and in the State of New Jersey in April 1999. Ms. Goody has practiced in the areas of family and matrimonial law since 2004, working on all phases, from pendente lite applications to trials, hearings, post-judgment applications and appeals.

Ms. Goody is a member of the Suffolk and Nassau County Bar Associations as well as the New York State Bar Association and its Family Law Committee and the Suffolk County Matrimonial Bar Association.

Ms. Goody is dedicated to her clients and provides each client with individualized advice based upon the needs and goals of the client. Her approach includes a combination of negotiation and litigation, with the ultimate goal being to bring each client’s matter to a resolution favorable to the client based upon all circumstances present in a cost-effective approach – which includes providing the client with reasonable options and goals, with the client participating in the decision making process.

Ms. Goody has been described by colleagues and clients alike as passionate and dedicated to ensure that each client receives the attention needed.

Ms. Goody’s trial work has included several cases reported in the news: Baker v. Baker: the court permitted the mother to relocate to Florida provided that, among other things, the children communicated regularly with the father via Skype; and Sorrentino v. Sorrentino: the court, despite the passage of a divorce “no-fault” law, required the wife to present her case at trial, and establish grounds for divorce, with the divorce ultimately granted to the wife.

Ms. Goody’s appellate work has resulted in the following reported decisions: Lew v. Sobel, 91 A.D.3d 648 (Second Department 2010), Lew v. Sobel, 120 A.D.3d 1418 (Second Department 2014), Hymowitz v. Hymowitz, 119 A.D.3d 736 (Second Department 2014), Medina v. Richard A. Kraslow, P.C., 149 A.D. 3d 928 (Second Department 2017), Lew v. Sobel, 151 A.D. 3d 954 (Second Department 2017).
